A couple of weeks ago I talked about my top 5 board game related apps which can be found here. In the same vein, I came across this little gem, Gameshelf.

Gameshelf is a funky online utility that links into your existing board game geek collection.

It will then populate all the games in your collection and randomly select a game for you to play based on your selected criteria.

I can’t tell you how much time this will save me when it comes to choosing games to take to games night, as for my gaming group the player count can vary between 4 and 10. Gameshelf doesn’t just stop at the player count; it allows you to select the game type and playtime, again this will help in your game selection for a gaming get together, whether it be fillers of heavy euros you can plan the perfect evening of gaming.

If you are anything like me, you will have board gaming friends with their own board game geek collections. The more, the merrier as you can add their collections, giving you a bigger pool of games to select from.

If you want to drill down into game specifics, you can select from a list of ways the games are ranked.

I can honestly say Gameshelf is one utility that I will be using on a regular basis, and I can’t wait to see what else they can come up with.
